90) CHIANG MAI AND BANGKOK (16 to 21 May 2017)

I had been a few times in Thailand: Phuket, Phi Phi, Koh Tao, Bangkok… But I had never seen the big city in the North, Chiang Mai (150,000 inhabitants). And it was a good reason to visit my good friend Jake, who started an online business. Chiang Mai is renowned for the numerous small entrepreneur who are able to work remotely: living cost, infrastructure, network, etc…We went to muay thai training:It does not take too long to visit Chiang Mai, but I had a good feeling about it. Particularly the people, independent expats’ willing to start on their own.One night, we had a lot of rain.I rented a scooter to appreciate the view from the Doi Suthep temple, on a mountain nearby. Then I stopped in Bangkok for a couple of days to see Remi. Remi lives in Bangkok with his wife and 2 kids.I managed also to catch up with Mathieu who was on holiday in Thailand. I used to study with both of them in France, for 5 years, and we always kept close contact. We had time for a dinner and night out. Nightlife in Bangkok has however changed since I last went there. The reason being the 12 months mourning of the king, who passed away in October 2016. Nightclubs closed at 4am, which does not sound like Bangkok! Thanks to Remi for welcoming me in his house! He knows there will always be a bed for his family in my place, wherever I end up.Now flying to Cambodia:

  1. I am thrilled at the wonderful pictures and descriptions of the beautiful countries you have visited so far. I envy you a lot, but it´s a kind of “healthy envy”. I wish I were young again to travel that wide and in your style. congrats. mónica
