After 3 days in Montevideo, it was time to hit the road and discover the Uruguayan coast. First stop is World famous resort city Punta del Este, a commercial place where well-off Argentinian, Brasilian and Uruguyan families spend summer. I did not take this picture.
La mano de Punta del Este is the symbol of the city:

To limit costs, and because I like it, I stayed in a camping and used the moto to ride around.

Over the past 5 months, I have been very lucky with the weather. I remember only 2 days of heavy rain. But this time, it started raining a lot, and I was kind of stuck in Punta del Este, waiting for a sunny day to be able to leave.
I stayed in this bus stop for an hour, under the storm:
Great pictures:

In a bar, I enjoyed listening to this awesome little band. The contrebass player is French and come here every summer. The trumpet player, Eric Wangensteen, is American and played in all parts of the World. Both professionals and great people.
I played again! But that was terrible…
In Montevideo, I had met Andre and Anne, Canadians. We had a great night out, drinking, laughing, playing stupid games and swimming at sunrise! I hope to see them again soon!

At the camping, I met this older couple from Holland, travelling the World bicycling for the past 15 years. 6 months per year, they go discover another country. So they can avoid the European winter…
Stuck with the weather, I stayed a bit too long in Punta del Este (5 days). But I’m finally on the road, riding between drops.

Uruguay is a small country, this is what I have done during my 10 days stay. Montevideo to Punta del Diablo is 300km only.
I stopped for lunch in Punta del Diablo and regretted not being able to stay longer. The place looks so cute and chilled…
If you have a week or 2 holiday, I definitely recommend Uruguay. Few days in Montevideo visiting the city, dancing tango and eating at Puerto Mercado. Then few days at Punta del Este to party. Then few days at Punta del Diablo to chill and meet people…
