59) ROAD TO CHILOE ISLAND (22 to 24 November 2016)

From Santiago to Puerto Montt, it is a boring 1100km of double lane highway. The first night, after getting the petrol leak fixed in Santiago, I stayed at one of the mechanic’s friends, Rodolfo. He took me to a great burger place and we ordered the giant 2kgs. Every year, there is a competition but no one has ever been able to finish it! I managed to finish it…. with the help of Rodolfo (who had more than half, to be honest). The burger was actually excellent! The day after was painful. This area looks like inland France, where I grew up, and I had violent allergies to pollen that made me stopped every 20 or 30km. I called it a day after 400km, in Temuco, and went to bed early. In all countries, police is always nice to me. The only times they stop me is to take pictures with the bike.In the morning, I was feeling better as I was getting closer to the sea. 450km and 30min ferry later, I was on Chiloe island.Pucon expected, that I unfortunately skipped, there isn’t much to see between Santiago and Puerto Montt.mapOceane is the reason why I skipped Pucon and made a detour to Chiloe. I met her when I was studying in Ireland 9 years ago and I see her regularly when I stop over in Paris. She has started her own translation business, Azimuth Translations (www.azimuth-translations.sitew.fr) and she was on holiday in Chile with 2 of her friends. It was great to see her on the other side of the World!BBQ, champagne and superhot water bath with seaview, it could not be better!
