54) THE GREAT CORDOBA! (6 to 10 November 2016)

Argentina is the 8th largest country in the World, located at the sames latitudes as Australia, so landscapes are sometimes similar: hot and dry in the North-West, hot and humid in the North East, (very) cold in the South… The big difference with Australia is the high mountains in the West, with 44 summits at more than 6,000m. About 44 million people live in Argentina. More details to come in the Buenos Aires article.la-paz-cordobaAfter 18 days and 3,300km on the road, from La Paz to Cordoba via the North of Chile (San Pedro  de Atacama), I needed some rest. Crossing of mountains and deserts, cold nights camping and rough unpaved roads made me lost 8kgs, and I needed to get some back.I had friends in Cordoba: Maria and Luciana, I had met in Peru a couple of months earlier. They took me for diner and made me visit the city, thanks a lot to them! After Buenos Aires, Cordoba is the 2nd city in Argentina, with 1.3 million people. It is home of the largest universities and the city is crowded with students. This part of Argentina looks a bit like France. A lot of French cars, people are dressed like French people do… After weeks in wild mountains, I felt really good in Cordoba, and I hope to be back someday! In most cities, a free visit tour is available, leaded by a student who is happy with tips only. It is usually very instructive and animated. Museums are free or do not cost more than 2 dollars.A lot of parks and trees:I used my time in Cordoba to rest, eat, update the blog, wash KLaRa and also plan the future.I would have liked to stay longer, but I want to be in Buenos Aires for Christmas and go all the way to the Southern tip first. This is usually how I plan my trips: I go to specialised websites/applications to get the GPS coordinates of key locations: visits, hostels with moto parking, petrol, campings, wild camping spots, etc…

I have been travelling quite slow since I started with the bike: 3 weeks in Lima, 10 days from Lima to La Paz, 4 weeks in La Paz, 18 days from La Paz to Cordoba, 6 days to Cordoba. It’s time to speed it up!world-map-4
