This trip was not planned, but I had a good reason to make it! Philippe is French, he lived in Darwin for 6 years (we used to be flatmates), and he has been traveling around the world for a bit more than 18 months. I have basically been following everything he has done 1 or 2 years after him.
He was in Arequipa, Peru, and I was in La Paz, Bolivia. We caught up about halfway, in Puno, Peru. I left my girlfriend KLaRa, the motorbike, in La Paz. I had issues crossing the border and I did not want to risk it again. The bus trip took about 8 hours., including the crossing of the Titicaca lake on a barge:
This is how Peru looks from the Bolivian side:
And I’m happy to be back for a few days:
Drinking was part of the programme:
But visiting also, and the weather was great:
On the lake Titicaca, highest navigable in the World (3,800m), we visited the Yavari, a ship bought to England in 1862. It took 6 years to ‘ship’ the 2,800 parts on mules from the ocean to the lake! First used as an army boat, it is privately owned since 1987 and is now available for touristic visits and Airbnb.

We also went for a quick hike up the hills from where we had great views on Puno and the lake:
The Condor of the Andes:
I had already been in Puno, 2 weeks earlier, town of 150,000 inhabitants.
