Mainly pictures in this article! Aguas Calientes is the little town from where the hikes to Machu Picchu start. It is impossible to drive to Aguas Calientes: the only ways are by train or by walk. From Ollantaytambo to Aguas Calientes, its a 2 hours train ride for 150USD return, or a 4 hours bike ride via Santa Teresa + 2 hours walk. Guess which option I went for…There is a pass at 4,316m just a few km after Ollantaytambo.
