Rio and Sao Paulo seem close to each others on the map, but it is 430km, 6 hours in a bus. And it seems much more when you are hangover. I arrived in the evening, and went straight to see Daniela and Ryan.
Daniela and Ryan are friends from Australia. They were in Brasil visiting Daniela’s family for 3 weeks, and I had the chance to stay with them for 2 days. I met parents, grand parents, aunties, friends… thank you so much!
We had fantastic diners and drinks:
Luckily, I don’t have pictures of the end of this night 😉
Unfortunately, the weather in Sao Paulo was not good: cold and sometimes raining. It’s winter down there. But we still enjoyed walks in parks of ‘Sampa’.

Daniela and Ryan’s schedule was tight and I moved to a hostel in Vila Madalena for the last 2 days.
The last day, the sun showed up and I went for a walk in the city with a French and a Dutch. Sao Paulo is apparently the largest city in the Americas and in the Southern Hemisphere: 12 million in the city, 21 million in the metropolitan area!
Salsa show in front of a dancing school:
I think the waitress likes me:
The interesting thing I saw is the Museum of football, retracing the history of the sport, the major achievements of the national team and the local football clubs.

I did not stay very long in Sao Paulo but it seems to me that it is a bit easier to get around than in Rio, the metro is more developed. It is however nowhere near as spectacular. I would probably need to stay longer to build myself a better opinion of the city.
My plans have changed! Wednesday 24 August early morning, I flew to Lima, a ticket bought a couple of weeks earlier. You will know why in the next article.
