The Olympics are not only about sport. It’s also about parties! Some of the countries represented at the Games organise a ‘House’ or ‘Casa’ in which you can find imported products, food and drinks. So supporters and athletes can feel at home. There are 20 to 25 houses. Some are more orientated towards Education, Environment, etc… Some are more orientated towards food and activities. And some are only for drinking and dancing! With my Olympic partner Kim, we tried to visit as many as possible. They are usually free to get in, but the queue can last for 2 hours or more.
I could not get tickets for the opening ceremony in the Maracana Stadium, but I managed to watch it on a giant screen at the House of Germany, on the beach.
The House of Portugal is on a boat! But I never managed to board:
As per the Australian House, Casa Colombia was small and a bit boring. But always good to go with Colombian friends:
The Club France had a great success. It was huge: apparently it hosted between 6,000 and 12,000 people every day. I had a French flag and a lot of people asked me for a picture:
I was interviewed live by the French TV!
One of the very best houses I went to was the Austrian House. DJ’s, groups and drinks all afternoon:
There have been lots and lots of parties. Pretty much every single night. At the hostel:
In bars:
On the beach:
In the streets of Centro:
In the Metro:
In private homes:
In Nichtclubs:
In the streets of Lapa:
It’s a mess!
For my last night in Rio:
The steps of Lapa at 3 in the morning:
And last goodbye to Kylie:
