I had to start going up North for the next weeding, in Normandy. After Bordeaux, the next stop is La Rochelle, where I caught up with Ben and Tiph, amazing couple I picked fruits with in Australia years ago. World travellers, I saw them for the last time in Cambodia in 2011.
La Rochelle is a lovely old city on the ocean, about 80,000 people live there. After a walk in the city, we cooked a ‘Tartiflette’, typical French dish with potatoes, ham and cheese, and watch the football game, at home.

In train stations, you need to bike to recharge your phone!
I stayed 1 night only in at Ben and Tiph’s. They haven’t changed, it’s always a pleasure to see them! Next stop is Nantes, still on the French West Coast.
Nantes is a larger city, with a population of 290,000 (ranked 6th in France). I was there to see Jeremy, my twin from another mother. Jeremy and I were born the exact same day (4th February 1985). A few years ago, he also spent time in Australia. Now, he is about to get married and it was the first time I had a chance to meet his fiancée, Sophie. Unfortunately, I don’t have a picture of us all together.
Nantes is a city full of History.
Traditionally, the 21st of June is a music festival in France. Anyone can play in the street and celebrations are happening from the smallest villages to the largest cities. It is usually very crowded, but I was surprised how well organised it was here in Nantes.

During the day, Jeremy and Sophie were busy at work and I could use some of my free time to catch up with friends I had not seen for up to 10 years. Graciane, now mum of 2.
Louis and Pierre-Olivier:
Eva, met in Australia:
I also walked and visited a bit:
There has been some striking and fighting recently:
Wine is ridiculously cheap in France:
With Eva, we went to the ‘Machines de l’Ile’, an artistic and technologic attraction made of animated animals: birds, spider, ants, elephant… quite impressive!
Since he went to Australia, Jeremy plays Didgeridoo. As weird as it sounds, and despite living more than 6 years in the Northern Territory, that was the very first time I was blowing in a didgeridoo!
Ho mignon ton article sur Nantes par contre juste maman de 2 gars… hihi des gros bisous à toi et profite un max
