3) BACK TO DUBLIN (25 to 27 May 2016)

After an overnight flight from Dubai, I landed in Dublin Wednesday 25th of May in the morning. It did not take me long to reach the city centre and get myself a Guinness. For those who know me, I studied in Ireland for a few months, in 2007, before I went to Australia. There is nothing better than the first sip of a Guinness in Dublin, my eyes don’t lie.

The reason I went to Dublin is a bunch of friends I met in Darwin who had organised a catch up. They were either from Ireland, Scotland or England, and nothing changes every time we see each others: we all love good food, drinking and laughing.

The other reason is named Marie-Astrid, my amazing youngest sister (20), who is currently working there as part of her studies.

In Dublin, the weather was OK: cloudy, bit of rain, bit of sun, 15degrees. I realised I had not been that cold in the past 4 years, but I am well equipped.

The locals of the group took us to a rooftop restaurant and a few pubs you wouldn’t find anywhere but in Ireland: Café en Seine, Number 37, etc…

That night, I eventually lost my fight against jetlag, lack of sleep and alcoholic beverages.

The day after, some of us weren’t in the best shape.

But a visit to the Jameson factory and a tasting session put everyone in the right direction.

At this occasion, I was delivered a taster certificate, one of the greatest achievements in my life.

And the night went on: Temple Bar, Black Market and one of the best food I ever had, on Fair Street.

My friends Jameson and Guinness eventually erased my memory and this picture sums up pretty well the night:

I spent 2 days and 2 nights in Dublin only. It wasn’t for visiting, but purely catching up with those crazy Brit/Ir-ish. Not sure where and when we will meet again, but it will happen, it always does!

In the afternoon of Friday 27 May, after saying goodbye to my sister I will see in a few weeks in France, I went to the airport. I loved the waiting area.

Next stop is further North: Edinburgh!
